Betty Jo Utley, age 83, of Russellville, Ky., passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at her home.

Betty was born in Logan County, Ky. on Feb. 7, 1941, to the late Jewell and Rubie Phenie (Harper) Stratton. She was a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was a devout Christian, loved to read her Bible everyday, and paint pictures. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Utley; two brothers, Wallace Stratton and Ronnie Stratton, and her sister, Mirtlean Joines.

Betty is survived by her three sons, Robert Utley of Lewisburg, Ky., Gary Utley of Russellville, Ky., and J. G. Utley (Faith) of Philpot, Ky.; three daughters, Beverly Houk (Brian) of Franklin, Ky., Annette Whitley (Randy) of Russellville, Ky., and Tammy Thurston (Michael Brouwer) of Auburn, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Betty Jo Utley were conducted Sunday, April 7 at 2 p.m. in the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Bro. Jered Patrick and Bro. Randy Davenport officiating. Burial followed in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation began at the funeral home on Sunday, April 7 at 11 a.m. until funeral time at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers are Stuart Merideth, Noah Whitley, Caleb Thurston, Cody Thurston, Lee Utley, Ben Moore, Dakota Utley, and Sam Estes.

The family has asked that donations be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
