Virginia Mourine Womack Abbott, 96, of Auburn, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Auburn Health Care Center.

She was born in Ohio County on Oct. 3, 1916, a daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah “Sally” Turner Womack. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Abbott is preceded in death by her husband, Buna Abbott; her sons, Randall Abbott and Larry Abbott; her grandson, Jeff Abbott; her brothers, Claude Womack and Arthur Porter Womack, and her sister, Joe Nell Cook.

Mrs. Womack was a home maker and was of the Baptist Faith.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 2 at 12 p.m. in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Tom Lawhon officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday, Feb. 2 from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers will be Doug Abbott, Mark Abbott, David Abbott, Garrett Abbott, Maclain Dunlap and Tony Jones.

She is survived by her son, Donald (Penny) Abbott of Adairville; her daughter-in-law, Janice Clinard of Adairville; her grandchildren, Doug (Rod Eggleston) Abbott, Mark (Debbie) Abbott, David (Carla) Abbott, Lori Dunlap, Diana (Gary) Sprinkle, Mandy (Tony) Jones, Leanne Abbott and Dayna Abbott, and her great-grandchildren, Delana Lindsey, Dylan Waldrop, Karissa Waldrop, Emma Sprinkle, Mackenzie Dunlap, Taylor Dunlap, Maclain Dunlap, John David Abbott, Madison Abbott, Kennedy Abbott and Garrett Abbott.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the McKenna Smith Fund which may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell.
