Johnny Hester Jordan, 80, of Elkton, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Todd County Sept. 30, 1932, a son of the late Leonard and Oma Powell Jordan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Duke Jordan; his brothers, Robert, Chester, and Sylvester, and his sisters, Edith Lack, Della Henson, Lillian McGinnis, and Mary Lucille Jordan.

Mr. Jordan worked for Elkton Apparel Company for approximately 30 years and later retired from Flynn Enterprises. He was ordained as a deacon at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School director, church training director and assistant choir director. Later he became an active member of Elkton Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon. He was very involved with the Todd County Senior Citizens Center, served on the PADD Aging Council, and was an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and Atlanta Braves. He loved to fish, tinker, do handyman jobs, travel and spend time with his family.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at Latham Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Keith officiating. Burial followed in the Todd County Meadow Haven. Visitation began Friday, Dec. 7 from 5-8 p.m. at the fuenral home.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Draper Jordan of Elkton; his daughter, Elaine Powell and husband Ricky of Bowling Green; his step-daughters, Roxanna Faye Draper of Elkton and Sheila Keeling and husband Darrell of Clifty; his brothers, Junior Jordan of Elkton and Sherman and Samuel Jordan of Indiana; his sister, Martha Boley of Elkton; his grandson, Christopher Powell and wife Emily of Louisville; his step-grandchildren, Tina Rundall and husband Pete of Arkansas, Travis Keeling of New Hampshire and Mindy Ward and husband Jason of Illinois, and three step-great-grandchildren.
