Earl “Squirt” Shoulders, 84, of Franklin, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the Medical Center in Franklin.

He was born in Simpson County Oct. 26, 1927, a son of the late Monroe “Monk” Shoulders and the late Mayo Cothern Shoulders. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shoulders was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Shoulders and his son, Edward Earl Shoulders.

Mr. Shoulders was a member of the Providence Baptist Church and Simpson Benevolent Masonic Lodge. He was a retired farmer and former employee of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store. He was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m. at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Sulphur Spring Cemetery. Military honors will be given by the Simpson County Honor Guard. Visitation began Thursday, Aug. 2 from 4-9 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 3 after 6 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Lawrence Shoulders; his children, Bobby Shoulders and Carol Shoulders Wilkerson, both of Adairville and Roger Lawrence of Franklin; his brother, Herbert Shoulders of Louisville; 11 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Sulphur Spring Cemetery Fund.
