On Tuesday, August 23, 2010, East Logan Water District was among ten water and wastewater utilities recognized and honored at the Member Appreciation Breakfast for their outstanding service during the past year. Each year, ten finalists, that have shown exceptional efforts in meeting the needs of their communities, enhancing their operations, and complying with regulatory requirements, are recognized.
The Wooden Bucket Award is presented to a water and/or wastewater utility that has made substantial and lasting improvements in providing high levels of customer service and high quality drinking water and wastewater services in its community. Other finalists included Barkley Lake Water District, Beattyville Waterworks, East Daviess County Water Association, Eubank Water System, City of Hardinsburg, Knott County Water & Sewer District, Lake Village Water Association, City of Pikeville, and Western Mason County Water District. The winner of the 2010 Wooden Bucket Award was the City of Hardinsburg, operated by Veolia Water North America.
The Kentucky Rural Water Association is a statewide, non-profit association that provides training, on-site technical assistance, advocacy, and other services to all utilities, including over 375 member public drinking water and wastewater utilities in Kentucky. With offices in Bowling Green and Frankfort, KRWA has been fulfilling its mission of helping water and wastewater utilities help themselves since 1979.
