The Russellville High School baseball team will play in the state All ‘A’ Classic this weekend, after heavy rains caused the tournament to be postponed earlier this month.

The games were supposed to be played in Lexington’s Applebee’s Park – the home of the minor league baseball team, the Lexington Legends.

The tournament was rescheduled for Saturday, May 15, and it will be played in Nicholasville instead of Lexington.

For the second consecutive year, the Russellville High School baseball team won the Fourth Region All ‘A’ Classic.

The Panthers have won three of the last four small-school region championships and are the first team to win three titles.

In the semis, Russellville beat Monroe County 4-0 and then beat Cumberland County 6-3 in the championship, which was held at Kelly Russell Field.

Russellville then beat Owensboro Catholic 5-2 in the sub-state to advance to the state tournament.

Russellville will take on Middlesboro, the champions of the 13th Region, in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
