This year's 64th Annual Strawberry Festival is going to be a great event as always, said Adairville/South Logan Chamber of Commerce president Dick Dickerson.
"It's like a giant family reunion," Dickerson said of the festival. "There's something for everybody."
The festival, which may be the second oldest continuous one in the state, got started over the weekend and hits full swing by the end of this week.
One popular part of the Strawberry Festival is the rides, which open Thursday at 4 p.m. and continue Friday and Saturday. Dickerson said Casey's Rides has been coming to Adairville for over 50 years and they do a great job each year. This year they have some new rides for patrons to enjoy.
"The rides are fun for kids and those who'd like to be kids," Dickerson said. "And the arm bands are a real bargain."
Arm bands can be purchased for $28 and provide access to all rides on all three days. They can be purchased now at the Adairville City Hall and most stores around town. Arm bands are not sold after noon on Thursday.
Dickerson said the Strawberry Festival has seen a huge increase in the crowds the last three years.
"It's gotten so crowded on the square that we¹ve gone back to the old way of starting the parade at the school," Dickerson said. This will give people more room to spread out and watch as the parades heads toward the square.
There is a lot going on, including free music on the square Thursday through Saturday evenings, crafts, food and more.
"We just want everyone to come out and have a good time," Dickerson said.
