Register now for Ag Safety Day

The date for Logan County's Progressive Ag Safety Day has been changed to Tuesday, May 18, at the Logan County Extension Complex on the 68/80 bypass. The 2010 Safety Day will have 13 safety sessions, an ATV presentation at lunch, and a mock rescue, as the closing finale. Each student will receive a t-shirt, a cap, morning and afternoon snacks, lunch, and a goodie bag. Sign your child up for this day of fun. Teens United of New Hope General Baptist Church will be hosting a Grill Off today beginning at 1 p.m. bring your own grill and choice of meat. There will be slaw, baked beans and a desert furnished. Big Nancy rocks for Relay

Big Nancy's Rock For Relay Concert is today from 7-9 p.m. at the 4th Street Theater in Russellville. The concert will kick off the annual Paint The Town Purple Events and is hosted by attorneys Morgan, Williams and Kerr and also sponsored by the Cattle Pen Steakhouse, which will be serving food during the concert. All proceeds go to Relay For Life. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and other Relay teams will have fundraisers outside of the theater. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the door. There will be door prizes, trivia and a raffle.

Benefit Singing for Fitzhugh Cemetery

Outdoor concert at Plainview

Plainview General Baptist Church on Hwy. 1038, Auburn, will have an Outdoor Music for Christ Concert today at 2 p.m. with the band “Krown of Thorns” performing along with other local Christian musicians. Food will be available. In case of inclement weather, concert will be postponed until May 15 at 2 p.m.

Community wide free meal

New Life Baptist Church in Auburn is sponsoring a community wide outreach by hosting a free meal today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion on Main Street in Auburn. The meal will consist of ham, green beans, potatoes, and dessert. Everyone is invited to come, eat and fellowship. Meals will be delivered by calling New Life Baptist Church at 542-8694. Executive Committee meeting

There will be a meeting of the Logan County Democratic Executive Committee today at 6 p.m. at the Democratic headquarters at 141 South Main Street. John Monroe, acting chair, request that all members attend this meeting as plans need to be made for a Primary victory celebration which will be held on Election Day. The public is invited to attend.

Auburn Cleanup Days

There will be Auburn Cleanup days held today through May 15. A receptacle will be located at the Auburn Sewer Plant. Gates will open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. No tires, brush, paint cans, batteries, construction debris, or hazardous material accepted. The Auburn city water bill or stub must be presented for admittance. No home pickup or curbside service will be available.

Good Samaritan

The Good Samaritan Executive Committee will meet today at 5:30 p.m. and the Board will meet at 6 p.m.

Author Tom McKenney will appear at the Logan County Public Library today during the course of his book tour to autograph his sensational new Civil War biography Jack Hinson’s One-Man War. The event is sponsored by the Southern Kentucky Pastfinders and the Logan County Public Library. It is free to the public and will begin at 7 p.m.

Relay for Life Poker Run

The City of Russellville is sponsoring a Poker Run today. Motorcycles and vintage cars may participate and the cost is $20. Preregistration forms are available at City Hall. Registration today will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Departure will be from the Sportsman Club at the City-County Park at 10:30 a.m. There will be a separate 50/50 draw at the completion of the ride.
