Several Logan County Farm Bureau Members attended the Farm Bureau Legislative Drive-in in Frankfort on March 3rd. This event allowed county Farm Bureau leaders from across the state to visit directly with their state senators and state representatives at the state capitol. The Logan County delegation met with State Senator Joey Pendleton and State Representative Martha Jane King. At these meetings several of the Kentucky Farm Bureau Legislative Priorities were discussed. One key issue was SB 105.

This bill establishes a livestock care standards commission. This commission would establish livestock and poultry standards for Kentucky farmers. These production standards would be based on best research and scientific data available. This bill will also preempt any local ordinances that are more stringent than the standards established by the commission. Many animal rights groups are opposed to this bill.
