Lusk, a former Auburn Church of Christ pastor, plead guilty to six charges of second degree rape and six charges of sodomy in connection with a 13 year-old-girl he was having an ongoing relationship with.
It is most likely Lusk will get between five and 20 years in prison for pleading guilty, but just how long will be determined at his final sentencing. If he receives the minimum five-year sentence, Lusk could be out in less than a year because of the time he has already served since being arrested in September 2009. He will be eligible for parole after completing 20 percent of his sentence.
Logan County Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Joe Ross said he expects a lot of testimony at the sentencing hearing – which could take up most of the day in court. Ross also said that it is his understanding that Lusk could face federal charges once this case is completed.
Federal investigators are looking at the case because Lusk transported the teenage girl across state lines before turning himself in to authorities.
After Lusk’s arrest he told the N-D&L he would not fight the charges against him and just wanted forgiveness for God.
