The Logan County girls punched their ticket for a spot in the Fourth Region Tournament by beating Todd Central 48-45. It will be the first region tournament region tournament appearance for the team since 2005.
The Lady Rebels tied the game at 44-44 with just over a minute left before junior Kayla MacAllister put the Lady Cougars ahead to stay with a short jump shot.
The boys game between Logan County and Russellville was equally close.
The Cougars led late in the fourth quarter, but RHS controlled the final two minutes to come away with a 64-59 victory.
The Panthers were led by seniors Justin Bollenbecker and Trevor Clark in the final seconds as they scored the last three field goals that allowed Russellville to come away with the win.
The district championships begin Thursday night with the girls' title game. Franklin-Simpson, which knocked out Russellville 59-47 on Monday, will take on Logan County at 7 p.m. Both teams will advance to the region tournament.
The boys' championship will be Friday night at 7 p.m. with the Panthers taking on Franklin-Simpson.
