RHS hosts district Governor’s Cup

Russellville High School hosted their district's Governor's Cup tournament Tuesday, February 2, with Franklin Simpson and Logan County High Schools also competing along with RHS. The tournament, which had been originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 30, was postponed to Tuesday evening due to inclement weather. The tournament ended at 10:50 p.m., with the following students advancing to regional play: Rebecca Orndorff - 4th place, math; Philip Crawford - 5th place, math; Eric Goddard - 1st place, social studies and 1st place, science; Raymond Van Zee - 3rd place, science and 4th place, language arts; Sarah Fox - 1st place, composition; John Corum - 5th place, composition; Taylor Swallows - 3rd place, arts and humanities. The future problem solving team (Sarah Fox, John Corum, McLean Shutt, and Kimberly Baugh) placed first and the quick recall team placed second. RHS came in second overall. They will be preparing for their regional tournament at Muhlenberg High School on Feb. 16 and 20. Congratulations to the entire team.
