In 2003 after hearing the news that several of our soldiers had been killed in Afghanistan my heart just broke. Something touched me and told me that I had to do something. With the help of Bro. Joe Carrico, the Soldier’s Family Christmas was born and has grown to be very successful over the past 7 years all because of the tremendous support from everyone in Logan County.
Christmas is a very stressful time for everyone and more stressful to some more than others. To those families whose children could not have their dads or moms at home for Christmas and some who would never have them home again because they lost their lives fighting, the stress is multiplied tremendously.
During Christmas it is always easy to get wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays and forget about what is going on in the world around us. Your contribution was a way of letting the men and women who are serving our country in Afghanistan and Iraq and their families know that they are not alone and that we have not forgotten them. Giving a little of yourself helped to add a little brightness to their holiday season.
To all of Logan County who opened up their hearts this Christmas I would like to express my personal sincere thanks and appreciation.
The positive reactions received from Fort Campbell recipients drives home the fact of what our Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive'.
Thank you Logan County
