Today’s grain markets not the same ones from a few years ago. Today’s market requires a more thorough understanding of how process are discovered, how to use available tools to manage risk, and a business plan that allows for opportunities to profit from grain production. The UK grain marketing short course will help you build your knowledge from the basic understanding of how markets work to more advanced methods of price risk management.

On February 22, 2010 the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service will host the Tri-County Grain Marketing Short Course at the Logan County Extension Office. The agenda for the day begins at 9 a.m. with the Price Discovery System followed by Cash Contracts, Futures and Basis Contracts, Marketing Strategies, pre and post harvest marketing, Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) Program and will conclude with Crop Insurance at 3 p.m.

Featured speakers for the day are Dr. Corey Walters with the University of Kentucky Economics department and Chris Zollman with Diversified Services. If you have questions and for RSVP, please contact the Logan County Extension office. All are invited to attend.
