The City of Russellville was given a plaque from the 101st Airborne in Fort Campbell for its participation in the Christmas for Soldiers’ Families event which was organized by the Toys for Tots and Agape Foundation.

Logan County collected food, toys and money for the soldier’s families and delivered them to Fort Campbell last week.

Russellville Councilman Lanny McPherson went with the convoy that delivered the toys and said,

“If you've never been over there for the Toys for Tots event you should, they really appreciate it.”

McPherson said he believes this was one of the biggest turn-outs for the event, which helps the families of soldiers during Christmas time. McPherson said the soldiers don’t have a lot and it is hard to buy toys for Christmas especially if some of them are just returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
