Tired of giving the same old gift for every special occasion? Your next idea is as close as your kitchen. Few gifts bring a smile to the face faster than home baked goods from the oven. Yeast or quick breads will meet almost any gift need. For cookie fans, try bar, rolled, shaped, or drop varieties. If you prefer to give a cake or pie, try cheesecakes, fruitcakes, or fruit pies. Even cupcakes can brighten any person’s day. If it’s harvest time, preserve your garden’s goodness of fruits and vegetables. Jams and jellies, cinnamon pears, bread and butter pickles, zucchini relish, or apple chutney will show off your talents, too. If kids are in the picture, homemade granola mix and cupcakes should do the trick. Or your kids can make salt dough ornaments for any occasion. Once you’ve made your food gifts, keep them safe and attractive by following proper sanitation and storage recommendations. With homemade foods, sometimes a pretty ribbon or fabric covering will add to the thought. Who wouldn’t love to receive a box of brownies for a birthday, a cake for an anniversary, or a hearty casserole on moving day? People love homemade presents for any occasion. Fresh tasting gifts made with love will be as much fun for you to make and give away as it will be for your family and friends to receive.
