Thanks to the dedication and concern of local law enforcement and the office of the state fire Marshal the city of Adairville has received 117 fire alarms to be given to the elderly and handicapped.

Logan County Sheriff Wallace Whitaker along with Adairville fire chief Jim Tremble and Adairville rural chief Larry McComas and state fire marshal Allen Gregory met at the Adairville Baptist Church Dec. 10th to break the news to the city of Adairville at its Christmas dinner.

“After an elderly woman who did not have a fire detector burned up in a fire three years ago, we decided something needed to be done,” said Whittaker who contacted the state Fire Marshal’s office and asked about getting the detectors.

“We are so grateful to have received the news of the detectors,” said Whittaker adding, “I hope that the detectors will help assure the safety of those who may find themselves in a fire and allow them to escape without harm.”

Whittaker said the detectors will go to individuals who are either elderly or handicapped first.
