Last weekend Peach Blossom, my old house on the Nashville Highway, was the scene of a very special Christmas Party. The correspondents and editorial staff of the N-D&L all joined for a fun party. There was lots of good food, lots of tall tale telling in front of the fire place in the living room and lots of fun with the game of take away with gifts. It was so nice having that lively group and the folks that bring you the news each week.
The Adairville/South Logan Chamber of Commerce held their annual Christmas and Awards Dinner. The much famous Don Neagle of WRUS Radio was the speaker and received a special award for his service in helping promote Adairville and south Logan County. The Rev. William Washington, John Lee Barnes and Regina Phillips were given outstanding service awards plaques. The food was great and it was a special evening.
The Red River Fish & Game Habitat held their annual Christmas Dinner last Saturday evening. There was a nice turn out and two auctions raised enough money to purchase a new sound system for the club’s two buildings.
Without a doubt Adairville has the prettiest town square, this Christmas season, as any in Logan County and maybe this part of the state. All the town merchants have cooperated and the entire square is lit up each evening after dark. The lights are beautiful. The park is decorated and there is a nice tree in the gazebo. There are special events each Friday and Saturday evening. Santa will be on the square each Friday and there will be caroling on Saturdays. A live nativity scene will be on the square this Saturday evening starting at 6 p.m.

With A Smile: I again think of my late cousin Nelson Holt who was raised to be a caring and loving child. One Christmas my aunt Zelma had prepared a great Christmas dinner for a family gathering. She remembered one more thing she needed and took off to the store. While she was gone a neighbor child, from a needy family, came and asked for food. He said his family was hungry. My cousin Nelson, who was 12 at the time, gave the hungry boy the freshly cooked ham. He said we have plenty more food and you should have the ham.
When my aunt returned home she almost had a stroke at first and then gave Nelson a big hug and told him he did right. She then cooked pork chops which were a big hit later in the day. Everyone had already eaten a lot of ham and the chops were a great change and greatly enjoyed.
Time to go. Good night sweet Mildred Lloyd, the Angle Sisters, Ruth Orndorft, Mrs Trimble and Mrs. Calabash where ever you are.
