Logan County Jailer Bill Jenkins says the population at the jail is still low coming in at between 104 and 112 inmates with 38 of those being state inmates.

Jenkins gave a report Tuesday to the Logan County Fiscal Court and was happy to report his food service costs were down $11,000 as of October.

“The low population as well as serving more turkey based products instead of beef is the reason for the decrease in food costs,” said Jenkins.

Another issue brought to the table concerns the holiday seasons. Jenkins said his deputies are keeping an extra watch this time of year due to the higher rate of suicides and discipline problems during the holidays.
