Producers are required to report prevented crop acreage to the Farm Service Agency in order to ensure program eligibility. Prevented planting occurs when a crop cannot be planted during the established planting period because of a natural disaster. Prevented planting must be reported no later than 15 calendar days after the final planting date for the crop.

The final planting dates for Wheat and Barley was November 15th if producers have not notified their local FSA office of prevented planted wheat or barley, they should do so by Nov. 30th, 2009, to avoid a late filed fee.

Producers are reminded that their crop acreage report directly affects their eligibility for future program payments, including loans, DCP, ACRE, SURE, and all disaster programs.
