This Sunday afternoon is a great time to jump start your holiday shopping right here in Logan County.

The 54th Annual Holiday Open House will take place in Russellville Sunday afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m. and over 25 businesses will be open and offering great deals, refreshments, door prizes and more.

"It's just a perfect time to start off your holiday season," said Darlene Gooch, director of Mainstreet Russellville.

Gooch said hundreds of people take part each year and many come from out of town.

"It's a tradition," Gooch said. As of Thursday, there were 27 businesses signed up to take part. Those are:

4th Street Theater (Public restrooms available), Paradise Consignment, Spectacular Hair Designs, Red Tree, Angela’s Consignment, Maggie Mae Fabrics, Mega Beauty Supply, Mega Sales & Rental, Riley-White Jewelry & Gifts, Paula’s Barber Shop, De Ja New, Hole in the Wall Pawn Shop, Blossom Shop, Logan County Crafters, Oak & Ivy, Shoppe on the Square, Artists on the Square, Off Main Antiques & Gifts, Walk in Closet, Tina’s Treasures, Coots Gifts & Nursery, Hickory Hill Gifts & Florist, Northern Gifts & Nursery, Jill’s Gallery of Shops, The Palm’s Day Spa, Stuff & Treasures, and the News-Democrat & Leader.

Artists and crafters will be set up at three locations: the 4th Street Theater, Colony House, and the Parks and Rec Center where the Logan County Arts and Craft Show will be taking place.

The trolley will be offering free rides all around the downtown area so shoppers can park and ride from store to store. And there will be music on the square featuring Christmas karaoke.

Those who don't usually shop in downtown Russellville may be surprised by all that can be found here, Gooch said.

"We have six new businesses in the downtown area," she added. "We've got a lot going on."

Gooch said the Holiday Open House is a great time to come out and support our local businesses.

"If we want these places to succeed, we've got to support them," Gooch said.
