Donald Gean Thornberry, 76
Donald Gean Thornberry, 76, of Russellville died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at
his residence.
Mr. Thornberry was born Sept. 15, 1933 in Logan County, a son of the late
Raymond Wesley Thornberry and the late Euva V. Thornberry.
Mr. Thornberry was the mayor of Lewisburg and a member of the Lewisburg City
Council in the 1970s. He was also a former member of the BRADD board and was
instrumental in providing Lewisburg with its sewage system and water
treatment plant. Mr. Thornberry was a retired school teacher for the Logan
County School System and was a Scout Master in Lewisburg for many years. He
was a member of Guptons Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. at Price Funeral Home
Inc. with Bro. Nick Stamps and Jerry Austin officiating. Burial will follow
in Elk Lick Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 16 at 5
p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Thornberry is survived by his son, Stephen ³Steve² (Ira) Thronberry of
Angeles City, Philippines; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Thornberry of Queens
Village, N.Y., SPC Andrew Thornberry of Italy, and Christian Jay Thornberry
of Angeles City, Philippines; his sister, Lila (Charles) Edwards of
Russellville; and his twin brother, Ronald D. (Jean) Thornberry of
Lewisburg.
