Logan Countians will soon have a new restaurant to try out as Ski Daddy's takes up residence in the old KFC building on Bowling Green Road. Owner Mike Jackson said they will feature some foods not found in other local restaurants and he hopes people will give them a try when they open up the week of September 14.

“Instead of driving to Bowling Green or someplace, people can just stay here and eat,” Jackson said.

Ski Daddy's will feature chicken strips and wings as well as catfish and gyros. Meals will come with sides such as fries, toast, pickles, and celery and sauce. Some unique sides that will be offered will include fried corn on the cob, fried mushrooms and fried pickles. There will combos, kids' meals, salads and desserts, including mini funnel cakes, as well.

The Russellville location will be the second for Ski Daddy's which has been open just over a year in Central City. Jackson said he and partner Marrickous Ray had wanted to open the first restaurant here but could not find a building at that time so they started out in Muhlenberg County. Ray is from Russellville and Jackson is from Bowling Green.

Jackson said the first restaurant has done well so when they were approached by the owner of the old KFC building here, they decided to give it a shot and open a second restaurant. They are now in the process of remodeling the building.

“We've kind of got to get it out of the look of KFC and put our spin on it,” Jackson said.

Jackson, who has been in the restaurant business 20 years, said the restaurant will be non-smoking and family friendly.

“We want to get involved in the community,” Jackson added.

Jackson and Ray are still taking applications and will begin calling people for interviews soon. They are excited about opening their new restaurant here in Russellville.

“We figure something like this will go over really well here,” Jackson said.
