The South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force made an arrest Monday in connection with one of the biggest methamphetamine lab busts of the year.

The task force, along with members of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, found the meth lab on Saturday morning seven miles north of Auburn off of Gasper River Road.

Evidence at the scene led to the arrest of 27-year-old Joshua R. Abrams of Bowling Green.

The South Central Kentucky Drug Task force was assisted in the arrest by the Warren County Drug Task Force and the Kentucky State Police Drug Force.

Abrams was arrested on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, knowingly possessing anhydrous ammonia in an improper container, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a meth precursor.

Abrams was found hiding out in a motel in Bowling Green after fleeing the scene of the meth lab bust on Saturday. At the time of his arrest, Abrams had approximately one ounce of methamphetamine on him.

He was given an eight-year prison sentence in 2008 in Warren County for first degree trafficking of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) but was paroled 11 months later.

“We get a lot of repeat offenders, but he was paroled very recently,” said South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force director Jerry Smith. “We see that more with meth and crack cocaine offenders. We don't see that many repeat offenders for marijuana.”

This case is still under investigation by the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force and more arrests are expected.

“We’re looking at least one more - and maybe two more suspects and potential arrests,” Smith said.
