Thursday morning former Logan County Magistrate Kerry Kenady was arraigned after being indicted for stalking, trespassing, burglary and other related charges. He has plead not guilty to the crimes.

During the arraignment, Circuit Judge Tyler Gill recused himself from the proceedings. A special judge will now be appointed in the case.

Another step down could be pending if the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office finds there is a conflict of interest between them and the defendant because prosecutors have belonged to the same civic club.

No word as of yet that the prosecutors will bow out, but if they decide to, a special prosecutor will be appointed as well.

Kenady was appointed in 2007 by then-governor Ernie Fletcher to fill the position in Logan County of First District Magistrate after the sudden death of Starling Murphy. He lost the seat two years later to Magistrate Dickie Carter. He also served as president of the Rotary Club.

Kenady was arrested July 6 after allegedly harassing Stephanie Rosser who rented a house from him.

Kenady is scheduled for a pretrial conference Oct. 29 at 8:30 a.m.
