After having a highly successful season finishing second in the region losing only to state and national tournament winner Trigg County, finishing fourth in the State Tournament and ninth in the National Tournament Adairville has established itself as a contender at any level of competition.
These young people have worked hard to achieve this honor and are working hard to make the trip become a reality. During the weekend of July 4th, parents and students held a road block and bake sale in Adairville and had a very successful weekend. Our next big event is to host a Corn Hole Tournament at Adairville School on July the 25th, following the tournament that evening there will be a meal and auction to help raise the funds necessary to attend the tournament. For information on the Corn Hole Tournament or to donate an item for the auction contact Steve.Stratton@logan.kyschools.us or Jennifer.Ferguson@logan.kyschools.us or you may call 542-7953 and leave contact information. Also any coach or parent of an Adairville Archery team member can help you with donations.
Archery in The Schools is a program started in 2003 by the Kentucky Department of Education and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife to encourage young people to get out in the outdoors and learn a sport they can enjoy throughout their lives. It has now spread to 48 states and five foreign countries with over 1 million young people now participating. The program is taught in grades four through twelve, and is the one of the fastest growing sports in the nation. It is safer than all sports except table tennis, and can be enjoyed by girls as well as boys. All students are equal a person’s size or athletic ability is not an advantage in Archery all students use the same equipment and shoot from the same distance. It helps to improve concentration and focus and has been proven to increase academic performance, attendance and attitude toward school.
If your school currently does not have an Archery program at this time and you would like to see it started contact any Archery coach in the county for information about starting a program. Lewisburg, Chandlers, Adairville and Stevenson elementary schools as well as Logan County High School currently have the program in place.
