Despite gloomy weather most of the day Saturday, a good crowd showed up for the inaugural event, which was put on by the South Logan Historical Society and the Adairville Police Department.
“We had a good crowd and everyone enjoyed it,” said South Logan Historical Society president Donna Blake. “I wish we had more cars and trucks that came down, but I undertand that they don’t come out as much in the bad weather as the bikes.”
Local musician Clay Bilyeau provided the entertainment for the evening and about $200 was rasied to go toward helping buy automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for the Logan County schools.
“We didn’t make a lot of money, but we did all right,” Blake said. “Everyone just had a fabulous time and Clay did a great job singing for us.”
A second Adairville Bike Night is already planned for next month. It is scheduled for August 15.
“I think next month will be even bigger and better as long as the weather cooperates,” Blake said. “I know there were a lot of people that were going to come from Elkton and Springfield, but they didn’t because of the weather this time.”
The event was sponsored by Logan Telephone Co-op, Riley White Drugs, Clay's Body Shop, and BMW Foods.
