Kenneth “Skipper” Shanklin Jr., 60, of Elkton died Monday, June 8, 2009 at his residence.

He was born in Elkton Aug. 5, 1948, the son of Verbie Tatum Shanklin of Elkton and the late Kenneth Shanklin Sr.

Mr. Shanklin was the owner/operator of Skipper Shanklin & Sons Trucking and was a farmer. He was a member of the Elkton Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 11 at Elkton Baptist Church with reverend Jerry Tracy officiating. Burial followed in the Gregory Family Cemetery.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Shanklin is survived by his wife of 39 years, Coleen Gregory Shanklin of Elkton; his sons, Ken Shanklin of Elkton, Wil Shanklin and wife Leslie of Trenton and John Shanklin and wife Carrie of Russellville; his sisters, Suzanne S. Slinker of Greenville and Terri S. Soyk of Elkton, and his grandchildren, Jordan Shanklin and Luke Shanklin.
