Logan man dies in motorcycle accident

Jonathan L. Neal, age 26 of Russellville died Tuesday, June 2 in a motorcycle accident on state route 3519.

According to a release from the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, Neal was traveling south on Lewisburg Road when he came upon a vehicle pulling a trailer that was stopped in the southbound lane with his left turn single on. The driver said he was waiting for a car to turn onto Lewisburg Road from Thompsons Chapel Road.

As the truck started to turn left, Neal passed him on his left. Neal lost control and ran off the road into a ditch. The motorcycle traveled a short distance, ejecting Neal from the motorcycle. Neal was pronounced dead at Logan Memorial Hospital from head injuries. Neal was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, but the helmet flew off at impact.

Assisting at the scene were the Lewisburg Fire Department, the Logan Aluminum Fire Department and Logan EMS.

Recreational "biking" is so much fun. We are so sorry to hear of an event that takes the life of a rider or riders. Bike riders have to be the most careful of all vehicle operators. Jonathan will be missed by all of us. We would like to express our sympathy to his family in this time of grief.
