For the second straight time, the Logan County High School softball team got off to a cold start against Russellville, but once again managed to pull out a victory.
On Tuesday, the Lady Cougars hosted RHS in the second “Clash of the Cats” for this season. They fell behind 2-0 after three innings, but rallied in the second half of the game to come away with a 6-2 win.
Earlier this year, when the two teams met at RHS, the Lady Cougars fell behind 3-0, but still managed a 9-3 victory.
The win improved Logan County’s District 13 record to an impressive 4-0 overall. Logan County has beaten Russellville twice and Franklin-Simpson and Todd County Central twice to date.
The Lady Cougars still have one game apiece with the Lady Cats and Lady Rebels – and with wins in each of those games, they would win the outright regular season district championship. That would also earn Logan County the top seed in the District 13 Tournament and would mean a likely rematch with Russellville in the first round.
Logan County will be back in action tonight at home against Glasgow. The game is schedule to begin at 5:30 p.m.
Russellville is still looking for its first win of the season, and if the Lady Panthers keep up the level of play they had Tuesday, it won’t be long before they get it.
