On Friday, March 1, 2013, Olmstead School celebrated Read Across America and Dr. Seuss’ birthday during a school wide program.

The Logan County High School ROTC presented the National Colors and eighth grade Olmstead student Karen Kutzman sang the National Anthem. Judge Tyler Gill was welcomed as he asked the students to raise their right hand and take a reading oath.

Following the oath, students were involved in a school wide, teachers included, ten minute silent reading time. A special visitor surprised students as The Cat and The Hat himself showed up to lead the wagon parade. Each homeroom created a wagon based on a Dr. Seuss book. The program ended with the introduction of 18 volunteer readers who spent the morning with each homeroom class, reading a Dr. Seuss book and completing an activity with the students.

A fun day was had by all as they celebrated reading and learning at Olmstead School.
