Carl Edward Ezell, 88, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Logan County on Nov. 19, 1924. He moved to Bowling Green as a young child and lived there his remaining years. He was a son of the late Robert Thurston and Harriett Hood Ezell. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ezell was preceded in death by his bothers, Lewis, Boyd and Robert Ezell; his sisters, Virginia Cherry and Ida Carpenter, and his son-in-law, Michael Allen.

Mr. Ezell was a veteran of World War II in the European Theatre with the 13th Armored Infantry Division where he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a retired construction superintendent for Alliance Corporation. During his career, he supervised many projects at Western Kentucky University as well as building schools and churches in Warren and surrounding counties. He was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church (formerly Kerr Memorial United Methodist). He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf as well as reading.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church on Veterans Memorial Blvd. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation began Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 4-8:00 p.m. at J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel and Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Elizabeth Yadon Ezell; his daughters, Amelia Allen of Elizabehtown and Barbara Neighbors (Ron) of Bowling Green; his son, Mark Ezell (Elizabeth) of Birmingham, Ala.; his grandchildren, Chrissy Skaggs (Doug), James Neighbors, Cathy Bolser (Scott), Jason Neighbors (Amy), Leigh Anne Peterson (Josh), Shea Allen (Allison), Robert Neighbors, Laura Ezell and Robert Ezell, and eight great-grandchildren. Carl was blessed to have many nieces and nephews who were a very important part of his life.
