It’s so sad what I read in the Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, paper about the Gideon’s Bibles being passed out at our schools. this has been happening as long as I can remember.
This paragraph came from the Kentucky Equality Federation’s website.
“Individuals can make a difference and if each of us did our bit, collectively, we will make a major contribution.”
This is why I’m writing the newspaper, because I want to make a difference.
There is no other group that is discriminated against more than Christianity. Ms. Alms says she practices being a Christian, don’t she know that Christian means follower of Christ. The Bible plainly speaks against what this organization, Kentucky Equality Federation, stands for. We Christians do believe in equality, for everyone has the right to hear the words that save souls. This group does not care about equality, peace or liberty for anyone, they are only concerned about promoting their agenda. We are free to hear and choose whatever book we want to read and learn from. Besides since when does handing a Bible to someone mean the school is teaching them about what it says.
ACLU/Joint Statement of current law on religion in the public schools under student prayer says, “students enjoy the right to read their Bibles or other scriptures, say grace before meals, pray before tests and discuss religion with other willing student listeners.”
So Christians stand up for what you believe in. Do not let one person take the Gideon Bible out of our schools. We have already let one woman take prayer out of school by doing and saying nothing. Please do not let history repeat itself. Schools are for learning and the Bible is a book our children can learn from. So Logan County, have the backbone to take a stand against Ms. Alms. This is our right.
Proud to be a follower of Jesus!
