The Logan County Cougars invited the Bowling Green Purples to their court on Monday night. Even though the Cougars played a close game in the first half, they fell to the Purples 84-59. This loss brings the Cougars season record to 6-16 as they head into the final weeks of the season.
The first half started out good for the Cougars, they gained the lead early on and were able to stay with the Purples. The Cougars ended the first half with a 21-16 lead. The Purples were able to take the lead halfway through the second quarter, putting the Cougars back 32-37 going into the second half.
The Purples turned up their game in the third quarter scoring 32 points, leaving the Cougars behind 26 points with a score of 43-69. The teams continued to battle throughout the last quarter, but the Cougars could never make a comeback for the lead. The game ended with a loss of 59-84.
Ben Wright led the Cougars with 13 points. Taylor Blakemore finished the game with nine points and J.R. Morrow contributed eight points for the Cougars.
The Cougars will face South Warren on Tuesday in a home double header.
