Head-on collision sends five to hospital

A head-on collision involving two vehicles occurred Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at approximately 4:43 p.m. on Milton Riley Road in Russellville. One of the vehicles held three teenagers, while the other an older couple.

Upon arrival and through an investigation, the Logan County Sheriff’s Department found that a 1999 Ford Mustang, occupied by three juveniles, a 17-year-old, a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old, had entered the opposite lane of traffic and struck a 2005 Lincoln Town Car being driven by Allen Flowers, 76, of Earl Road, Russellville.

Both Flowers and his wife Sarah Flowers, 69, were transported to Logan Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries. Two of the juveniles were life flighted from the scene to Vanderbilt Hospital for injuries sustained, while the third juvenile was transported to Logan Memorial Hospital also for unknown injuries.

The accident is being investigated by Sgt. Clint Wright and in ongoing. Sgt Wright was assisted by sheriff Wallace Whittaker, deputies Bobbie Hooten, Seth Williford, the Russellville Rural Fire Department, Logan County EMS, PHI and Air Evac.
