As the second half of the school year kicks off in Russellville Independent Schools, one group of students can enjoy knowing they spread a little Christmas cheer to their school-mates over the holidays, just before Christmas break.

Paige Winders’ class at RHS walked door-to-door in the high school, caroling and handing out home-made chocolate-covered pretzels.

“We wanted to do a Christmas surprise for the school by incorporating teaching (the) students social skills and the concept of giving for Christmas,” Winders said. “All of the students love music, so we decided to include their talent into the surprise.”

Winders’ students began practicing singing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” after Thanksgiving break.

“We also went shopping at Wal-Mart and the Mighty Dollar to purchase ingredients for the chocolate-covered pretzel rods and the hats that they wore,” Winders said. “We all worked to prepare the pretzels during class-time one day.”

Winders students took well to their tasks.

“They worked very hard, and I was so proud of each and every one of them,” she said. “They spread some Christmas cheer in Russellville schools!”
