The Russellville Lady Panthers finished in fourth place in the First Southern National Bank Christmas Classic basketball tournament held last week. The Lady Panthers went 1-2 which put them in fourth place after losing to the Caverna Lady Colonels on Saturday.
The Lady Panthers started the game far behind the Lady Colonels. The first quarter ended with the Lady Panthers down 17-7. The Lady Panthers couldn’t keep up and ended the half down 32-21.
The Lady Panthers had a big third quarter scoring 20 points, which put the Lady Panthers only four point behind going into the fourth quarter. The Lady Panthers worked hard but could not defeat the Lady Colonels and fell 59-57.
Amber Sydnor led the Lady Panthers with 34 points. Khalia Hampton ended the game with 12 and DaVonya Bryant with seven.
“I feel like the First Southern National Bank did a fabulous job so I want to give a big shout out to them,” said head coach Dedra Adler. “I feel like the girls are going in the right direction. We are still very inexperienced but they are improving every game and doing what I need them to do.”
The Lady Panthers will face the Lady Cougars in the Clash of the Cats game tonight at Russellville High School.
