The Logan County Lady Cougars faced a district team for the first time this season on Friday as they went head to head against the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats. The Lady Cougars ended the game with 65-53 loss.

The Lady Cougars did not start the game strong as they finished the first quarter down 7-19. The Lady Cougars came back out and had an explosive second quarter with a 24-4 run against the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Cougars ended the first half leading 31-25.

Unfortunately, the Lady Cougars came out and only scored four points in the third quarter compared to the 28 points scored by the Lady Wildcats, which brought them down 28-45 going into the last quarter.

The Lady Cougars fought hard and out scored the Lady Wildcats in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to win the game as the Lady Wildcats took the win.

Laura Hunt and Kapreshia Powell lead the Lady Cougars with 12 points each. Maegann Hardison finished the game with eight points and Katelyn Jones with seven.

“I thought the girls played hard in the second quarter. We were rebounding and boxing out and moving at a fast pace. We were meeting our goals and we had a great second quarter,” said head coach Scot MacAllister. “In the third quarter we stopped playing hard. In the fourth quarter they played hard but we had already dug a big hole and could not come out of it. I’m excited for the possibilities but they have go to want it for themselves.”

The Lady Cougars face the Glasgow Lady Scotties tonight in an away game and will come home to face the Todd County Central Lady Rebels on Friday.
