On Saturday night, the Adairville community will be hosting a benefit for Nannette Starks King, who has served the south Logan County city in a plethora of ways throughout the years.

The benefit will be from 6-9 p.m. at the Red River Fish and Game Club. There will be food, an auction, a raffle and entertainment from Clay Bilyeu.

All proceeds will go to help her pay medical expenses from her battle with cancer.

“We’re calling it ‘Giving back to one who has given much,’” said newly-elected Adairville mayor Donna Blake, who is helping to organize the event.

Over the years, King has served on the Adairville council and in various roles at the Red River Fish and Game Club. She is currently the president of the Adairville/South Logan Chamber of Commerce and also works as the city’s sexton.

“She is one of our city’s hardest workers,” said Blake. “She has been so instrumental in what we’ve been able to do with the downtown park. She’s always willing to help, whether it’s putting out the Christmas decorations or setting out and taking care of flowers or working on the Strawberry Festival.”

For more information about the benefit, call 772-2175.
