David W. Abbott, 67, of Russellville, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Oakland County, Mich. Jan. 7, 1945, a son of the late Cornelius Wesley Abbott and Lillian Irene Carson Abbott. In addition to his parents, Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Jean Rice.

Mr. Abbott worked as a fork lift operator for General Motors. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the UAW and Knights of Columbus.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Brother Kenny Chyle officiating. Visitation will begin Friday, Oct. 5 at 12 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

He is a survived by his devoted companion, Shirley Thacker of Auburn; his sons, Brian Abbott (Katherine) of White Lake, Mich. and David D. Abbott of Pontiac, Mich.; his step-sons, Jim Nichols and Doug Nichols both of Russellville; his daughter, Sharon Clements (Daniel) of Palmer, Ala.; his step-daughter, Kimberly Moore of Auburn Hills, Mich.; his brothers, Wayne Abbott (Viola) of Auburn and Kenneth “Bugs” Abbott of Clarkston, Mich.; his sister, Penny O’Neal of Ortonville, Mich.; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
