A new mission statement has been selected for the City of Russellville.
Mayor Mark Stratton says each administration chooses its own mission statement and he believes the one that was passed Tuesday at the city council meeting is a good fit and represents the administration well.
The statement is as follows:
The City of Russellville is committed to preserving its heritage, sustaining and enhancing a high quality of life for its citizens. Russellville will provide municipal services to our citizens in an effective and responsible manner, preserving the community’s well being. We will manage and maintain stewardship of public assets through planning and visionary leadership.
Stratton said when the city applies for grants, they always want to know what the city’s mission statement is. This is one reason the city has one. Another is to let the citizens know where their elected officials who represent them stand and how they intend to run the city on the citizen’s behalf.
“I feel this sums up how we feel as council members, the mayor and the administration of this city and what we think is important to our city. This kind of fits us,” said mayor Stratton.
