Opinions? Everyone has Opinions!

Dear Editor:

We all have opinions! My opinion is that President Obama has made some mistakes during his first term in office, but again, my opinion is that the President has been instrumental in leading this Great Country through what most individuals would rank as the worst crisis since the Great Depression. Many of you must agree with me, because according to a recent poll by The NY Times and CBS News, the president’s job approval rating is now 51 percent among all Americans!

We live in a Great Country! A central element of this greatness is our democratic form of government. A central element of a Democracy is everyone has a vote and in our government we vote for individuals to represent us and the majority rules. Sometimes the majority has only a slight lead, but those are the rules that we play by. If President Obama is re-elected, and in my opinion, he should be, then that is the rule of the land!

Another opinion that I have is that Mr. Romney will receive the majority of the vote in the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky. Again that opinion is pretty quickly confirmed by all of the pre-election polls. But, despite the polls, On November 6th, I plan on casting my vote in support of President Obama. I may be in the minority in Kentucky, but a Democracy allows me to express my convictions!

There are others who strongly disagree with me. This was obvious when such fools (my opinion) as hate radio host, Rush Limbaugh expressed his “hope that President Obama fails”! (January 2009). Again in October of 2010, our own and beloved, Senator Mitch McConnell speaking of the Republican goals stated that, “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president”. Their goals were not to help the Country; they were not to create jobs; they were not to work cooperatively; they were totally focused on defeating the President, and everything else could be darned! “Anybody but Obama” is a juvenile mentality! Mr. Limbaugh and Senator McConnell aside, the polls are now tracking in a positive direction for President Obama.

Again, in my humble opinion, I think that President Obama is the best person to lead this Nation for the next four years and I think that we should all give him our total support!
