Lawrence David Utley, 66, died Sept. 11, 2012.
He was born in Logan County Oct. 5, 1945, a son of the late Lawrence Edward and Ida Rager Utley. In addition to his parents, Mr. Utley was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Billy Utley and his sister, Mary Ruth Bailey.
Mr. Utler was a retired manager for Roses and Caster Knott in Bowling Green. He was a Vietnam veteran, a Purple Heart recipient, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the American Legion and a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. at J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will begin Friday, Sept. 14 from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 15 after 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Geny Pruett Utley; his daughter, Belinda Richards Gibbs and husband Chris; his grandchildren, Jennifer Hartsock Watts and husband Jason, Richard Hartsock and wife Kelly, Christina Gibbs and Ashley Gibbs; his great-granddaughter, Madelyn Grace Hartsock; his brothers, Jimmy of Hopkinsville, Bobby of Russellville and Kenneth of Franklin; his sisters, Polly Craig of Allegre, Shirlee Yassney and Barbara Justice, both of Russellville; many nieces and nephews; very special sisters-in-law; many friends, and his loyal dog, Penny.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, American Cancer Society or Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ Building Fund would be appreciated and encouraged.
