Well ladies, I goofed!!! Yes old Tulip Green didn’t get her article to the newspaper on time. I bet you didn’t miss me at all; but I really hope you did.

Anyway, I had company for Labor Day and they decided to stay over and then when Tuesday came, I thought it was Monday and so I was a day behind all week. So when I got my newspaper delivered on Friday, old TG’s column was not there. Then it hit me, why did I get my paper on Thursday. Of course the Hubby had to put in his “two cents worth” and say, “well you have been a day behind all week. Of course he could have reminded me but NO; not the Hubby!

Yep, I was a day behind. Now that I have explained I will just tag this little note to my original one and send it in for the Friday’s paper. Hope I am not confusing you. It won’t happen for a while because we don’t have any more holidays until Thanksgiving! So here goes. Sorry gang.

Well, it’s the day after Labor Day and all I can say “IT’S OVER! SUMMER IS GONE!” Another thing that made it awful was it rained and then rained some more; the whole weekend. We sat around here all summer and prayed for rain. You remember ladies, I asked you to do a “RAIN DANCE” and it did bring rain; but on Labor Day weekend is not a good time for rain. It did stop long enough for everybody to shoot off their fireworks. I hope you had that opportunity to have that excitement in your life. I always have the fear that something is going to back fire and someone is going to get hurt.

All the kids are back in school, and it was the last time everyone gets together to celebrate with a picnic or family gathering and we had RAIN. I felt sorry for the people trying to ski and just a few kids braved the elements to ride a tube but one “DYE HARD FISHERMAN” came by standing in his John Boat wearing a full rain slicker. You know what that is don’t you? It’s the rubber pants, jacket and hood! I thought to myself, Man, I hope he doesn’t fall in the water; he will sink straight to the bottom before he can get any of that stuff off! But as I said before, “he’s a real fisherman”. Of course the Hubby agrees, he is just as bad sometimes. He doesn’t let a little thing like rain stop him if the “mood” hits him. As I have said before many times, IT’S A DISEASE! Those of you that have a Hubby that fishes know what I am talking about. Rain or Shine, when the fish call……they grab their pole, jump in the boat and off they go!

One of my neighbors braved the elements and got out his wave runner. They also tried their hand at fishing and caught one fish, pretty big cat fish of course they threw him back after everybody took a picture and I helped him take it off the line! As Hubby said, you just had to get in the action.

I haven’t been fishing lately, as you have probably noticed. It’s been too hot and now too much rain and wind. Would you call me a “fair weather fisherman”? You bet!

The Hubby and I always come in the spring and we think we have the entire spring and summer to enjoy the lake! Then before you know it its LABOR DAY! SUMMER IS OVER AND ALL THAT’S LEFT IS THE LEAVES TURNING AND OF COURSE GREAT FISHING!

You guys out there know that because the water is cooler.

I hope you are in a better mood than I am when you read this little special note I wrote for you; because Labor Day means that before long we will be singing Christmas carols. I told my neighbor last year when the fourth of July rolled around that watch out Christmas would be here before you know it. She looked at me as if I was some kind of NUT. I said, just wait. Well this past weekend, she reminded me of that saying last year and she now agrees with me. In other words, enjoy life it’s later than you think. Also you better start thinking of those people on your Christmas list!

Well, I have carried you almost through the entire season and now it is LABOR DAY! It won’t be long until the boats cover the lake to watch the leaves turn. We had one boat come by late Monday afternoon between showers and the two ladies that sat up front already had on their beautiful fall hats. I will keep you posted because that is a fabulous sight. People don’t even dress the same as they do in the summer. But until then, STAY HAPPY!
