In a time when so many of us are having to tighten our purse strings to make our dollars stretch further, Community Education is offering, in partnership with Logan County Cooperative Extension, a Nutrition on a Budget class at no charge this fall.
The free class, which will be taught by Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Educator Paige Rodgers, will be on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 16 and 23, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Stevenson Elementary School cafeteria.
Community Education Director Alicia Carmichael said the class will be enjoyable and helpful for anyone who wants to know how to eat as healthy as possible without breaking the bank.
“Paige Rodgers knows which foods give you the most bang for your buck financially and nutritionally,” she said. “Plus, she’ll be giving class members a few minutes together at the end of each class to trade coupons, which can be very beneficial when it comes to shopping wisely.”
In addition to Nutrition on a Budget, Community Education will offer a Website Design class taught by longtime Community Education Instructor Abbi Brown Lillard, who also teaches several computer classes at Logan County High School.
“While this class is not free, it is worth of every penny of the $30 you’ll spend to learn a skill that can give you an edge in the workplace,” Carmichael said.
Website Design will be on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 23 and 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in room 226 at Logan County High School, through entrance number five in back of the school.
Carmichael said Lillard will put at ease those who have no idea where to begin when it comes to designing a website, as well as those who have some knowledge of the skill but just need a little help tweaking their efforts.
“There’s a reason we have Abbi Lillard teach so often,” she said. “She knows her way around a computer beautifully and she loves to share her knowledge with others.”
To register for the $30 Website Design class, please call the Russellville Independent Schools Central Office at (270) 726-8405, or stop by the office at 355 South Summer Street. Registration for this class ends Oct. 10.
While there is no charge for the Nutrition on a Budget class, please call (270) 726-8405 to register by Oct. 5.
