The Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle accident on the old Lewisburg Road Thursday afternoon.

According to a press release, a 2003 Ford Mustang, driven by Craig E. Nuyt, 31, of Russellville, was northbound when for unknown reasons left the roadway. Nuyt’s vehicle traveled 155.11 feet until impacting two trees and coming to finial rest.

Nuyt was not wearing his seat belt and was partially ejected from his vehicle. Nuyt was pronounced deceased at the scene by Logan County Coroner Mary Givens.

The investigation is being conducted by Sgt. Jeff Sanford and is ongoing. Sgt. Sanford was assisted by sheriff Wallace Whittaker, deputy B. J. Grayson, Corp. Clint Wright, the Lewisburg Fire Department and the Logan County EMS.

My deepest heartfelt sympathy to the family. Craig is a sweet young man. May it offer the family some comfort to know that others are sharing in their sorrow and sending prayers.
