Sheriff’s Department, RPD respond to accidents

The Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to an accident with injuries on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 9:49 p.m. on Gordonsville Road.

During the investigation, it was determined that 68-year-old Arlington J. Harris of Lewisburg was travelling south when he lost control of his 2010 Toyota Corolla after losing consciousness from an unrelated illness.

Harris travelled across the northbound lane and hit a brick mailbox before coming to a stop.

He was then transported to Logan Memorial Hospital where he was admitted for pneumonia.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Logan County EMS and the Russellville Rural Fire Department.

The Russellville Police Department responded to a crash at the intersection of the 68/80 Bypass and Terry Wilcutt highway on Friday, Aug. 31.

The collision involved a 2004 Chevrolet Blazer, operated by 61-year-old Linda Howell, of Springfield, Tenn., and a red Ford F150 operated by 39-year-old Timothy Gamblin of Russellville.

According to witness statements, Howell was attempting to turn left onto the bypass from Woodland Drive. Traffic control reportedly displayed a red light for her lane. Gamblin was traveling west on the bypass when Howell’s vehicle collided with his in the intersection. The collision caused Howell’s vehicle to spin and roll over, ultimately coming to rest on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Both Howell and her passenger, 59-year-old Martha Searcy of Springfield, were mechanically extricated from the vehicle by the Russellville Fire Department and transported by Logan County EMS to Logan Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Gamblin was not injured.

The Russellville Police Department was assisted on the scene by the Logan County EMS, the Russellville Fire Department an the Logan County Emergency Communications Center.
