Solid Waste Coordinator Dwight Cockrill released the June 2012 daily road trash pickup report at the Tuesday, Aug. 28 fiscal court meeting.
The report documented roadside pickup from June 4 through June 29 and included Highway 431, Terry Wilcutt Hwy., Schley Road, 68 Bypass, Highland Lick Road, Buena Vista Road, 68 west and 68 east.
Road crews picked up 41.8 miles of roadway and collected 426 bags of trash, one tire, one metal crack pipe and a bag full of dead chickens.
Cockrill said there haven’t been as many tires found on the roadsides lately. He believes the state Tire Amnesty program held the end of April on 431 South helped a great deal with the dumping old tires on the roadways.
