The Logan County Democratic Women’s Club awarded scholarships to two local students at a reception held at the Democratic Headquarters.

Shirley Haines, president of the Women’s Club, presented a $200 scholarship to Mollie Thompson, daughter of Tom and Sandra Thompson.

Mollie is a recent graduate of Russellville High School and will be attending the University of Montana.

Polly Cowan, daughter of Mark and Amy Cowan, a graduate of Logan County High School, was also awarded a $200 scholarship. She will be attending Western Kentucky University this fall.

“The Logan County Democrats are very proud of what these two young democratic women have already accomplished and know that they both will continue to be women who have active roles in our nation’s political system,” said Haines.
