The Logan County High School girls’ soccer team had a disappointing 2-1 loss Thursday night against the Muhlenberg County Lady Mustangs.

There was a lack of intensity in the first half of the game and took the girls a little bit to warm up. Freshman Breanna Baptiste scored for the team at the 27 minute mark of the first half. But the girls defense couldn’t stop the Lady Mustangs from scoring two goals.

The Lady Cougars stepped it up in the second half and played an intense game. The girls worked hard enough to get several scoring opportunities but couldn’t find the back of the net.

“The girls were happy about their win from Tuesday and waited to play until the second half and it was too late,” said LCHS coach Daniel McCarley. “But they did not give up and fought all through the second half. They got caught off guard.”

McCarley said he was proud of the team and they had been working hard. They had their first team camp this summer and had a hard pre-season that consisted of two practices a day. McCarley said he and the girls are very excited for the season. He said the team is still young but that he was expecting great things from the Lady Cougars this year.

“We have a really good team this year and they are having a lot of fun,” said McCarley. “We would love to see the community come out and support the team this year.”

Thursday the Lady Cougars will face Glasgow in the Pink Out game at 5:30.
